La Paz - Huayna Potosi – Base Camp
- Departure to Huayna Potosi

- Practice with the equipment on a nearby glacier

Upper base camp

- Hike of 2 to 3 hours to upper base camp

DAY 3
Summit Huayna Potosi – Pala Grande – Upper Base camp - La Paz
- 00:30 A.M. Breakfast
- Ascent to the summit of the Huayna Potosi, 5.6 hours
- 80 meter Wall, Pala Chica
- The summit Pala Grande, 6088 meters ( 19973 ft .) above sea level
- Return/descent, 3 to 4 hour hike

IMPORTANT: The route is difficult in places and can be physically challenging, which is why you will need to be bold and outgoing and carefully follow your guide's instructions. In addition it is important that you report any ailment, fatigue or tiredness to the guide and to take into account there is no hurry and it is not a race to the summit. ACCLIMATISATION for the Dutch, French, Brazilian, or others coming from sea level takes eight days.

We are in one of the richest protected areas on the planet, biologically speaking. We are known by scientists to be a " Biodiversity hotspot" which is a priority for conservation weakened by the huge demand for development in the area. This tropical Andean hotspot has the highest biodiversity of plants endemic to the planet and is host to some 45,000 different plant species and over 1,000 tropical bird species whose songs will wake you up in the morning. At dusk you can glide through the waters of the lagoon in our canoes and experience the most profound and ebullient beauty in the world!

ITINERARY
DAY 1:
La Paz - Rurrenabaque
- 50 minute flight
- Transfer to the Chalalan office.
- Fill out forms to enter Madidi park.
- Accomodation in a tourist class hotel.
- Free afternoon in Rurrenabaque.
DAY 2:
Rurrenabaque - Chalalán Ecolodge
- Continental breakfast at the Hotel
- Transfer from the Hotel to the Beni river to board the boat to Chalalán
- Trip to Chalalán Ecological Lodge, takes 5 1/2 hours by boat up the Beni and Tuíchi rivers
- Box lunch or tapeque halfway
- Arrival to the port of Chalalán
- Hike of 25 minutes to Lodge
- Accomodation in your cabin or room
- Welcome Lunch in the shelter
- Take a rest and/or swim in the Lake
- Short hike by the footpath Paraba to the viewpoint from where you can observe the beautiful landscape of the lagoon, mountains and the impressive tropical forest of Madidi . Return in canoe by the creeks of the Chalalán lagoon, to observe birds and monkeys. Theme: plants used for construction and observation of the wild life.
- Dinner in the shelter dining room
- Nightime Hike along a footpath to observe insects, tarantulas, amphibians, mice, birds and nocturnal monkeys. If you prefer, we offer a nightime cruise by canoe to observe amphibians, nocturnal birds and caymans easily spotted due to their impressively bright eyes.
DAY 3:
Chalalán Ecolodge - Madidi National Park
- Buffet breakfast in the shelter dining room.
- Morning hike in the forest along a nature trail where you can observe and learn about the forest and wild life. Thematic option: natural interpretation of the forest, natural history, ecological processes, medicinal plants and those used for construction, animal behavior and bird watching.
- Return to Lodge
- Short Hike along a footpath. Thematic optional: medicinal and exotic plants, plants used for construction, bird watching, observation of insects.
Optional activities:
1. Afternoon with an artisan
2. Cruise the lake in a canoe
3. Presentation of videos about the community and Madidi Park
- Traditional dinner “dunucuabi” fresh river fish wrapped and cooked in leaves, or fished a la “tacuara”.
- Traditional Quechua night - Tacana, with music and the community's own dances San Jose de Uchupiamonas.
DAY 4:
Chalalán Ecolodge - Rurrenabaque - La Paz
- Buffet breakfast in the dining room of Lodge
- Short Hike to the Tuíchi river to board the return boat.
- Return trip to Rurrenabaque, (3 hours.)
- Arrival to Rurrenabaque. Transfer to the airport and return to the city of La Paz .
